Duminică, 14 ianuarie 2024: 2 Cronici 9:1-31 – Împărăteasa din Seba

Împărăteasa din Saba a traversat trei milenii, trei continente (Asia, Africa și Europa) și trei religii (iudaismul, creștinismul și islamismul). Faima lui Solomon a atras-o și pe împărăteasa din Seba care l-a vizitat la Ierusalim (1 Regi 10:1-13). Cel mai probabil că ea a venit din țara Sabeenilor (Iov 1:15), parcurgând aproximativ 2000 de km. Alți cercetători sunt de părere că a venit din peninsula Arabiei, Yemenul de astăzi, 2250 de km. Ea a adus foarte multe daruri: mirodenii, pietre scumpe, lemn mirositor și aproximativ patru tone și jumătate de aur.

Împărăteasa a fost uimită de înțelepciunea lui Solomon și extrem de surprinsă de tot ce a văzut – bogăție, organizare impecabilă, conducători, slujitori, belșug… Venitul anual al lui Solomon era de douăzeci și cinci de tone de aur, fără să socotim veniturile din taxe și impozite. După o viață prosperă, după 40 de ani de domnie (971-931 î. C.), Solomon a murit. În locul lui Solomon a domnit fiul său, Roboam.

Potrivit teoriei nișei, fiecare om este bogat și în același timp sărac, în felul lui. Este bogat pentru că fiecare are ce să mănânce și să bea. De asemenea, fiecare om este sărac pentru că niciodată nu este mulțumit cu ce are.

Îi mulțumim lui Dumnezeu pentru pâine și apă, dar mai ales pentru sănătatea care ne permite să ne bucurăm de ce avem. În rugăciunea din această dimineață Îl vom ruga pe Dumnezeu să ne dea înțelepciunea, discernământul și echilibrul de a genstiona spre slava Sa tot ce avem. În felul aceasta nu vom avea doar aici, ci și acolo.

Sunday, January 14, 2024: 2 Chronicles 9:1-31 – The Queen of Sheba

The Queen of Sheba had traversed three millennia, three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe), and three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). Solomon's fame also attracted the Queen of Sheba, who visited him in Jerusalem (1 Kings 10:1-13). Most likely, she came from the land of the Sabeans (Job 1:15), traveling approximately 2000 km. Other researchers believe she came from the Arabian Peninsula, today's Yemen, 2250 km away. She brought many gifts: spices, precious stones, fragrant wood, and about four and a half tons of gold.

The Queen was amazed by Solomon's wisdom and extremely surprised by everything she saw – wealth, impeccable organization, leaders, servants, abundance… Solomon's annual income was twenty-five tons of gold, not counting revenues from taxes and duties. After a prosperous life and 40 years of reign (971-931 BC), Solomon died. His son, Rehoboam, succeeded him.

According to the niche theory, every person is rich and at the same time poor, in their own way. They are rich because everyone has something to eat and drink. But, every person is poor because they are never satisfied with what they have.

We thank God for bread and water, but especially for the health that allows us to enjoy what we have. In this morning's prayer, we will ask God to give us the wisdom, discernment, and balance to manage everything we have for His glory. In this way, we will have not just here, but also there.
