Luni, 14 august 2023, Judecători 13:1-25 – Vestirea nașterii lui Samson

În jurul anului 1200 î. Cr. filistenii au pus bazele unei confederații de cinci orașe: Gaza, Ascalon, Asdod, Gat și Ecron. Israelul a trecut printr-o perioadă de asuprire filisteană de 40 de ani.Deși soția lui Manoah din Torea era stearpă, Dumnezeu i-a dat un fiu căruia i-a pus numele Samson. Când îngerul Domnului a anunțat-o pe soția lui Manoah că va avea un fiu, el a menționat că acesta va fi nazireu (închinat Domnului). Jurământul de nazireu era o punere de-o parte pentru Dumnezeu care includea abținerea de la băutură tare, de la tăierea parului și evitarea contactului fizic cu trupurile moarte (Numeri 6:2-6).

În mod normal, jurământul de nazireu era pentru o perioadă limitată, însă Samson urma să fie nazireu pentru întreaga viață (Judecători 13:7). El a fost 20 de ani judecător în Israel și Dumnezeu a început să izbăvească pe Israel din mâna Filistenilor. Samuel i-a supus pe filisteni după moartea lui Samson (1 Samuel 10:7-14). Samson nu a avut o armată asemenea celorlalți judecători, ci, folosind forța lui fizică supranaturală, s-a luptat singur cu filistenii.

Am ajuns la timpul rugăciunii și, așa cum se cade, vom începe cu rugăciunea de mulțumire. Vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că a pregătit un eliberator pentru evrei, chiar dacă aceștia ,,făceau ce nu plăcea Domnului” (13:1). Cine poate să înțeleagă dragostea nemeritată a lui Dumnezeu! Tocmai de aceea El ne cere să iubim cu aceeași iubire necondiționată, iubirea ,,agape” care s-a născut în sânul revelației. Apoi vom continua rugăciunea cerând Domnului să ne echipeze cu responsabilitatea de a aduce onoare lui Dumnezeu prin trăirea unei vieți sfinte și necompromise de păcat.

Monday, August 14, 2023: Judges 13:1-25 – The Announcement of Samson’s Birth

Around 1200 B.C., the Philistines established a confederation of five cities: Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gath, and Ekron. Israel went through a 40-year period of Philistine oppression. Although Manoah's wife from Zorah was barren, God gave her a son and named him Samson. When the angel of the Lord announced to Manoah's wife that she would have a son, he mentioned that he would be a Nazirite (dedicated to the Lord). The Nazirite vow was a dedication to God that included abstaining from strong drink, not cutting the hair, and avoiding physical contact with dead bodies (Numbers 6:2-6).

Typically, the Nazirite vow was for a limited period, but Samson was to be a Nazirite his entire life (Judges 13:7). He was a judge in Israel for 20 years, and God began to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines. Samuel subdued the Philistines after Samson's death (1 Samuel 10:7-14). Samson didn't have an army like other judges; instead, using his supernatural physical strength, he fought the Philistines alone.

It's time for prayer, and as is fitting, we will begin with a prayer of gratitude. We will thank God for preparing a deliverer for the Jews, even though they “did what was evil in the Lord's sight” (13:1). Who can understand the undeserved love of God's! That is why He asks us to love with the same unconditional love, the “agape” love born in the heart of revelation. We will then continue our prayer, asking the Lord to equip us with the responsibility of honoring God by living a holy life, uncompromised by sin.
