Lipsa copiilor în familiile evreilor era privită ca o mare nenorocire (1 Samuel 1) sau ca o pedeapsă a lui Dumnezeu (Leviticul 20:20). Din textul de astăzi vedem că în cazul nașterii unui copil de parte bărbătească, perioada curățirii pentru mamă este de 7+33=40 de zile. În cazul nașterii unei fete, perioada este de 14+66=80 de zile. Când mama ieșea din perioada necurăției, după naștere, trebuia să aducă o jertfă de ispășire.

În dimineața aceasta este timpul potrivit să mulțumim lui Dumnezeu pentru părinții noștri. Apoi să ne rugăm lui Dumnezeu, cerând puterea să-i ascultăm când suntem sub autoritatea lor în casa părintească și să-i cinstim după ce ne-am căsătorit și avem propria noastră familie.

Friday, April 14, 2023: Leviticus 12:1-8 – Laws Regarding Childbirth

The absence of children in Jewish families was considered a great tragedy (1 Samuel 1) or a punishment from God (Leviticus 20:20). From today's text, we see that in the case of the birth of a male child, the period of purification for the mother is 7+33=40 days. In the case of the birth of a female child, the period is 14+66=80 days. When the mother emerged from the period of impurity after childbirth, she had to bring a sin offering.

This morning is the right time to thank God for our parents. Then let us pray to God, asking for the wisdom to listen to them when we are under their authority in their home and to honor them after we get married and have our own family.
