Vineri, 13 ianuarie, Geneza 11:1-26 – Turnul Babel

Primele două versete ne descoperă faptul că generația din capitolul 11 avea o singură limbă și a pornit spre Răsărit, condusă de Nimrod. El întemeiază prima cetate de după potop, Babelul. În versetele 3-4, ne este descoperită motivația constructorilor:

1)      zidirea unei cetăți și a unui turn al cărui vârf să atingă cerul – SIGURANȚĂ

2)      să ne facem un nume – SEMNIFICAȚIE

3)      să nu fim împrăștiați pe toată fața pământului – UNITATE

Nimrod și oamenii de atunci nu s-au supus limitărilor stabilite de Dumnezeu, după momentul căderii în păcat, de aceea Dumnezeu i-a oprit, încurcându-le limbile. Prin alungarea din paradis ni s-a interzis accesul la Pomul vieții; prin încurcarea limbilor li s-a interzis revenirea în sfera cerească. Turnul Babel nu era construit pentru a aduce slavă lui Dumnezeu, ci era dedicat unei religii false, cu scopul de a aduce faimă constructorilor lui și zeilor în care credeau aceștia.

În această dimineață vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că conduce Universul cu înțelepciune și putere. Apoi vom continua să ne rugăm pentru o viziune conformă voii Sale, pentru o viață modestă, o slujire modestă și o motivație care să înalțe numele și voia lui Dumnezeu.

Friday, January 13: Genesis 11:1-26 – The Tower of Babel

            The first two verses reveal the fact that the generation in chapter 11 had one language and set out for the East together, led by Nimrod. He establishes the first city after the flood, Babel. In verses 3-4 we find out the reason for the construction:

1)    The building of a city and a tower whose tip would touch the heavens – SECURITY

2)    To make a name for ourselves – SIGNIFICANCE

3)    So we are not scattered all over the earth – UNITY

Nimrod and the people back then did not submit themselves to the limits placed by God, after the fall, which is why God stopped them by mixing up their tongues. By being cast out of paradise we were forbidden access to the Tree of Life, and through the mixing of the tongues they were forbidden from reaching the eternal sphere. The Tower of Babel was not constructed to bring glory to God, but it was dedicated to a false religion, with the purpose of bringing fame to its constructor and fame to those who believed in him.

This morning we will thank the Lord for guiding the universe with wisdom and might. Then we will continue to pray for a vision that conforms to His will, for a modest life, a modest ministry and a motivation that praises the name of God and His will.
