Luni, 13 februarie 2023, Geneza 41:1-57 – Iosif în palat

Credincioșia lui Dumnezeu s-a arătat față de Iosif și i-a dat două vise lui Faraon, pe care înțelepții Egiptului nu le-au putut interpreta. Atunci paharnicul și-a adus aminte de Iosif și i-a spus lui Faraon despre el. Iosif a fost scos din închisoare și adus la palat să tălmăcească visele împăratului. Din casa lui Potifar în calitate de rob a ajuns în casa închisorii în calitate de condamnat, însă peste câțiva ani a ajuns în palatul lui Faraon ca ministru. Ce imprevizibilă este  viața! Dintr-un anumit punct de vedere, viața este o înșiruire de roluri: copil, adolescent, adult, bătrân, mort… mântuit sau nemântuit.

Visul lui Faraon s-a repetat de două ori și în acest vis 7 vaci slabe și urâte la vedere au mâncat 7 vaci grase și plăcute la vedere. Interpretarea lui Iosif a fost promptă: 7 ani de belșug vor fi urmați de 7 ani de secetă. Iosif i-a sugerat împăratului să găsească un om priceput ca să economisească în fiecare dintre cei 7 ani de belșug o cincime din producția țării. Faraon a fost atât de impresionat de intepretarea și aplicația lui Iosif, încât l-a numit prim-ministru. I-a dat multă autoritate și pe fiica preotului On de soție.

Iosif avea 30 de ani. A ajuns la 18 ani în Egipt și în 12 ani i-a convins pe egipteni și pe regele lor că el este omul lui Dumnezeu. Un gânditor din generația noastră spunea că ,,Darul pe care îl am de la Dumnezeu este potențialul meu, iar darul pe care îl am pentru Dumnezeu este ce fac cu acest potențial”.

Doi frați: Iuda și Iosif. Iuda le-a sugerat fraților lui să-l vândă pe Iosif negustorilor caravanei de cămile. Mai târziu a urmat înșelăciunea, minciuna, izolarea, incestul… Întâmplarea cu Iuda și Tamar este deja celebră. De partea cealaltă, Iosif, după 12 ani de Egipt, ajunge al doilea după împărat într-una dintre cele mai puternice țări din timpul acela.

Doi frați: Iuda și Iosif. Fiecare avem la dispoziție o viață pentru a excela sau pentru a mediocriza. Marea diferență dintre ei stă în faptul că ,,Dumnezeu a fost cu Iosif” (Geneza 39:2-3, 21, 23).  

Fiind dimineață, ne vom opri înaintea Domnului pentru rugăciune. Îi vom mulțumi cu recunoștință pentru că este cu noi. Îl vom ruga să ne dea înțelepciune și putere ca să facem din această singură viață pe care o avem ,,o jertfă de bun miros pe care să o închinăm lui Dumnezeu”.

Monday, Febraury 13, 2023: Genesis 41:1-57 – Joseph in the Palace

God showed His faithfulness to Joseph, and he gave Pharaoh two dreams that the wise men of Egypt could not interpret. Then the cupbearer remembered Joseph and told Pharaoh about him. Joseph was taken out of prison and brought to the palace to interpret the king’s dreams. From Potiphar’s house as a slave, Joseph went to the prison as a convict; but after a few years he ended up in Pharaoh’s palace as prime minister. How unpredictable life is! From a certain point of view, life is a series of roles: child, teenager, adult, old, dead… saved or unsaved.

Pharaoh’s dream was repeated twice and in this dream 7 thin, ugly cows ate 7 fat, sleek cows. Joseph’s interpretation was prompt: 7 years of plenty would be followed by 7 years of drought. Joseph suggested to the emperor that he find a skilled man to store a fifth of the country’s harvest in each of the 7 years of plenty. Pharaoh was so impressed with Joseph’s interpretation and application that he appointed him prime minister. Pharaoh gave him much authority as well as the daughter of the priest of On to be Joseph’s wife.

Joseph was 30 years old. He had arrived in Egypt at the age of 18 and within 12 years he had convinced the Egyptians and their king that he was a man of God. A thinker from our generation said that “The gift I have from God is my potential, and the gift I have for God is what I do with this potential”.

Two brothers: Judas and Joseph. Judas suggested to his brothers that they sell Joseph to the merchants of the caravan. Later came the deception, the lies, the isolation, the incest… The incident with Judas and Tamar is already infamous. On the other hand, after 12 years in Egypt, Joseph becomes second in command after Pharaoh in one of the most powerful countries at that time.

Two brothers: Judas and Joseph. We each have a lifetime to excel or to choose mediocrity. The big difference between them lies in the fact that “God was with Joseph” (Genesis 39:2-3, 21, 23).

Because it is morning, we will come before the Lord in prayer. We will thank him in gratitude for being with us. We will ask him to give us wisdom and strength to make this one life that we have, “a sweet-smelling sacrifice to that we offer to God“.
