Duminică, 12 februarie 2023, Geneza 40:1-23 – Iosif în temniță

Deși era în închisoare pe nedrept, Iosif nu se simte abandonat de Dumnezeu. Dimpotrivă, Îl slujește cu bucurie. Paharnicul și pitarul lui Faraon erau și ei în închisoare și au avut câte un vis de la Dumnezeu. Ei trebuiau să fie oameni de mare încredere, deoarece principala lor responsabilitate era să guste tot ce mânca și bea împăratul, prevenind în felul acesta otrăvirea lui.

Visul paharnicului a fost favorabil și peste trei zile a fost repus în slujbă. Visul pitarului a fost dramatic și s-a împlinit prin faptul că Faraon l-a spânzurat. Iosif a rămas în temniță și paharnicul nu și-a mai amintit de el. Experiența aceasta dureroasă nu i-a afectat negativ credința lui Iosif. El se putea gândi cu amărăciune că a rămas în închisoare, însă și-a amintit că pitarul a ajuns în mormânt. O clipă ne desparte de libertate și tot atâta de mormânt. Iosif a rămas plin de speranță nu pentru că totul era bine, ci pentru că binele era prezent în toate. Un gânditor spunea că timpul le vindecă pe toate – dă-i timp timpului.

Este dimineață și vom începe rugăciunea mulțumindu-I lui Dumnezeu pentru că întotdeauna are o soluție la problemele noastre. Apoi ne vom ruga să răbdăm necazul și să suferim nedreptatea, așa cum a făcut și Iosif. Și astăzi este nevoie de oameni care să poarte în fapte chipul lui Dumnezeu.

Sunday, February 12, 2023: Genesis 40:1-23 – Joseph in Prison

Although he was in prison unjustly, Joseph did not feel abandoned by God. On the contrary, he served Him with joy. Pharaoh’s former cupbearer and chief baker were also in prison, and each had a dream from God. They had to be very trustworthy people, as their main responsibility was to taste everything the emperor ate and drank, thus preventing his poisoning.

The cupbearer’s dream was favorable and after three days he was reinstated in Pharoah’s household. The baker’s dream was traumatic and fulfilled in that Pharaoh hanged him. Joseph remained in prison and the cupbearer forgot about him. This painful experience did not negatively affect Joseph’s faith. He could have been bitter that he remained in prison, but he remembered that the baker was in a grave. A moment separates us from freedom and the same moment from the grave. Joseph remained hopeful not because everything was good, but because good was present in everything. A great thinker said that time heals all wounds – let time have time.

It is morning once again and we will begin our prayer by thanking God for always having a solution to our problems. Then we will ask for endurance in tribulation and when we suffer injustice as Joseph did. Even today there is a need for people to bear the image of God in their deeds.
