Vineri, 12 ianuarie, 2024, 2 Cronici 7:1-22 – Jertfele lui Solomon

Rugăciunea pe care Solomon a făcut-o la sărbătoarea dedicării Templului a primit răspuns. Dumnezeu a trimis foc din cer să ardă jertfele și slava Sa a umplut Templul (2 Cronici 5:13-14). Poporul s-a strâns de peste tot și sărbătoarea a continuat 14 zile pentru că s-au suprapus Sărbătoarea Corturilor cu sfințirea altarului (v. 9).

Regele Solomon și adunarea au adus jertfe douăzeci și două de mii de boi și o sută douăzeci de mii de oi. În noaptea care a urmat, Dumnezeu S-a arătat lui Solomon și l-a asigurat de două lucruri:

1. Dumnezeu va binecuvânta națiunea (v. 12-13):

a) va sfinți Templul pe care ei l-au construit;

b) le va asculta rugăciunile când vor fi în necaz;  

c) le va ierta păcatele;

d) le va tămădui țara.

Aceste patru binecuvântări erau condiționate de câteva atitudini ale poporului:

a) să se smerească;

b) să se roage;

c) să caute părtășia cu Dumnezeu;

d) să renunțe la păcat.

2. Dumnezeu îl va binecuvânta pe rege:

a) va consolida domnia lui;

b) urmașii lui vor fi regi.

Aceste două binecuvântări au fost condiționate de câteva atitudini ale regelui:

a) să fie credincios asemenea tatălui său David;

b) să păzească legile și poruncile Domnului;

c) să renunțe cu desăvârșire la idolatrie.

Dacă regele și poporul nu vor asculta de legile și poruncile Domnului vor fi luați prizonieri și Templul va fi dărâmat. Lecția de viață a acestui capitol este că prezența și binecuvântările lui Dumnezeu nu sunt ieftine și nici obligatorii. Îi mulțumim lui Dumnezeu pentru că ne-a promis prezența și binecuvântările Sale. Să ne rugăm Domnului să fim credincioși și loiali, pentru a rămâne în prezența și binecuvântările Sale!

Friday, January 12, 2024: 2 Chronicles 7:1-22 – Solomon's Sacrifices

The prayer that Solomon made at the feast of the dedication of the Temple was answered. God sent fire from heaven to consume the sacrifices, and His glory filled the Temple (2 Chronicles 5:13-14). The people gathered from all over, and the feast continued for 14 days because the Feast of Tabernacles overlapped with the dedication of the altar (v. 9).

King Solomon and the assembly offered sacrifices of twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. On the night that followed, God appeared to Solomon and assured him of two things:

1.     God would bless the nation (v. 12-13):

a) He would consecrate the Temple they had built;

b) He would listen to their prayers in times of trouble;

c) He would forgive their sins;

d) He would heal their land.

These four blessings were conditioned on several attitudes of the people:

a) they would humble themselves;

b) they would pray;

c) they would seek fellowship with God;

d) they would turn from their sins.

2.     God would bless the king:

a) He would establish his reign;

b) his descendants would be kings.

These two blessings were conditioned on several attitudes of the king:

a) they would be faithful like his father David;

b) they would keep the laws and commandments of the Lord;

c) they would completely renounce idolatry.

If the king and the people would not obey the laws and commandments of the Lord, they would be taken captive, and the Temple would be destroyed. The life lesson of this chapter is that the presence and blessings of God are neither cheap nor obligatory. We thank God for promising us His presence and blessings. Let us pray to the Lord to be faithful and loyal, so that we can remain in His presence and blessings!
