Miercuri, 12 aprilie 2023, Leviticul 10:1-20 – Consecințele abaterilor ceremoniale ale preoților

Dacă în capitolele 8 și 9 ascultarea de directivele divine a atras manifestarea slavei lui Dumnezeu, în capitolul 10 neatenția sau ignoranța fiilor lui Aaron a atras pedeapsa Domnului care i-a omorât. Nadab și Abihu au adus foc străin în cădelnițe și Biblia menționează vinovăția lor, spunând: ,,Au adus astfel înaintea Domnului foc străin, lucru pe care El nu li-l poruncise” (v. 1). Foarte probabil că ,,focul străin” care L-a mâniat pe Dumnezeu se referă la faptul că nu au luat cărbunii aprinși de pe altar, ci dintr-o altă sursă (16:12).

De asemenea, e posibil ca ei să fi slujit sub influența alcoolului. Singura dată când Dumnezeu îi vorbește direct lui Aaron, fără intermedierea lui Moise, este imediat după moartea fiilor lui: ,,Domnul a vorbit lui Aaron și a zis: `Tu și fiii tăi împreună cu tine să nu beți vin, nici băutură amețitoare când veți intra în Cortul Întâlnirii, ca să nu muriți: aceasta va fi o lege veșnică printre urmașii voștri, ca să puteți deosebi ce este sfânt de ce nu este sfânt, ce este necurat de ce este curat și să puteți învăța pe copiii lui Israel toate legile pe care li le-a dat Domnul prin Moise” (8-11).

În prima zi de slujbă în Cortul Întâlnirii, Aaron își privește pe cei doi fii ai lui mistuiți de focul lui Dumnezeu! De ce nu a ținut cont Dumnezeu de faptul că erau fiii Marelui Preot? ,,Moise a zis lui Aaron: `Aceasta este ce a spus Domnul când a zis: ‘Voi fi sfințit de cei ce se apropie de Mine și voi fi proslăvit în fața întregului popor.` Aaron a tăcut” (v. 3). Morala acestei dureroase întâmplări este că cei care au harul să fie cel mai aproape de Dumnezeu trebuie ,,să facă toate cele poruncite de Domnul prin Moise” (8:36).

Începem rugăciunea din această dimineață mulțumindu-I Domnului pentru că folosește bucuria și necazul ca să modeleze caracterul nostru, ajutându-ne să înțelegem cât de grav este păcatul înaintea Sa. Apoi ne vom ruga cerând de la Domnul înțelepciune și responsabilitate pentru a face cu băgare de seamă lucrarea Sa – ,,Blestemat să fie cel ce face cu nebăgare de seamă lucrarea Domnului…” (Ieremia 48:10).

If in chapters 8 and 9 obedience of divine directives attracted the manifestation of God's glory, in chapter 10 the inattention or ignorance of Aaron's sons brought upon them the punishment of the Lord, who killed them. Nadab and Abihu brought strange fire into the censers, and the Bible mentions their guilt, saying: “They offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command” (v. 1). It is very likely that the “strange fire” that angered God refers to the fact that they did not take the burning coals from the altar but from another source (16:12).

It is also possible that they served under the influence of alcohol. The only time God speaks directly to Aaron, without the mediation of Moses, is immediately after the death of his sons: “The Lord spoke to Aaron, saying: 'Drink no wine or strong drink, you, or your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean, and you are to teach the people of Israel all the decrees the Lord has given them through Moses'” (8-11).

On the first day of service in the tent of meeting, Aaron sees his two sons consumed by the fire of God! Why did God not consider the fact that they were the sons of the High Priest? “And Moses said to Aaron, 'This is what the Lord has said: ” Among those who approach me I will be proved holy; in the sight of all the people I will be honored“. Aaron remained silent (v. 3). The moral of this painful event is that those who have the grace to be closest to God must “do all that the Lord has commanded through Moses” (8:36).

We begin our prayer this morning by thanking the Lord for using joy and sorrow to shape our character, helping us understand how serious sin is to Him. Then we will pray asking the Lord for wisdom and responsibility to carefully do His work – ” A curse on anyone who is lax in doing the Lord’s work!…” (Jeremiah 48:10).
