Vineri, 11 august 2023: Judecători 10:1-18 – Eliberarea sub conducerea lui Tola și Iair

Tola și Iair au făcut parte din grupul ,,judecătorilor mici”, deși influența lor a fost mare în țară. Tola a fost judecător timp de 23 de ani în Israel și a contracarat decăderea din timpul lui Abimelec. După Tola, Iair a fost judecător 22 de ani în zona transiordaniană a lui Manase. Iair a fost un om respectat de contemporanii săi, strălucind în ochii lor prin bogăție, prin numărul fiilor săi și prin prisma prosperității cetăților sale, „numite și azi cetățile lui Iair”.

În vremea aceea existau mulți zei păgâni care s-au constituit într-o foarte mare ispită pentru Israel:

a)     Baal și Astarteea au fost zeii canaaniților și fenicienilor (2:13; 1 Regi 16:31-33);

b)    Rimon și Hadad erau zeii sirienilor (2 Regi 5:18);

c)     Chemos era zeul moabiților (1 Regi 11:5);

d)    Dagon era zeul filistenilor (Judecători 16:23).

Ei bine, evreii s-au închinat acestor zei păgâni și L-au întristat pe Dumnezeul cel Atotputernic. Domnul i-a pedepsit și i-a dat în mâinile filistenilor și amoniților. 

Este timpul rugăciunii și vom începe prin a-I mulțumi lui Dumnezeu fiindcă ni S-a descoperit, ca să nu mai slujim idolilor și obiceiurilor păgâne ale părinților noștri. Apoi ne vom ruga lui Dumnezeu să fim roditori, influențând oamenii din generația noastră spre Cristos, spre credință. Să păstrăm în mintea noastră prioritatea de a fi loiali lui Dumnezeu cu orice preț.

Friday, August 11, 2023: Judges 10:1-18 – Deliverance Under the Leadership of Tola and Jair

Tola and Jair were part of the group of “minor judges,” although their influence was significant in the country. Tola was a judge for 23 years in Israel and counteracted the decline during the time of Abimelech. After Tola, Jair was a judge for 22 years in the Transjordanian area of Manasseh. Jair was a man respected by his contemporaries, shining in their eyes through wealth, the number of his sons, and the prosperity of his cities, which are still called “the cities of Jair.”

At that time there were many pagan gods that constituted a great temptation for Israel:

a)     Baal and Astarte were the gods of the Canaanites and Phoenicians (2:13; 1 Kings 16:31-33);

b)    Rimon and Hadad were the gods of the Syrians (2 Kings 5:18);

c)     Chemosh was the god of the Moabites (1 Kings 11:5);

d)    Dagon was the god of the Philistines (Judges 16:23).

Well, the Jews worshiped these pagan gods and grieved the Almighty God. The Lord punished them and handed them over to the Philistines and Ammonites.

It is prayer time, and we will begin by thanking God because He has revealed Himself to us, so that we no longer serve idols and the pagan customs of our parents. Then we will pray to God for us to be fruitful, influencing people in our generation towards Christ, towards faith. Let us keep in our minds the priority of being loyal to God no matter the cost.
