Secțiunea alcătuită din capitolele 40-48 se constituie într-un mesaj de mângâiere și încurajare din partea lui Dumnezeu pentru poporul ales. Profețiile din această secțiune, care anunță eliberarea evreilor din captivitatea babiloniană, par incredibile datorită faptului că Imperiul Babilonian era în anii lui de glorie și părea invincibil.

În capitolul 45, Dumnezeu anunță faptul că Cirus, regele Persiei, va învinge temuta armată babiloniană. Nu doar că Cirus i-a învins pe babilonieni, dar a și permis prizonierilor evrei să se întoarcă în țara lor, în Țara Sfântă.

Este uimitor faptul că Dumnezeu îl numește pe acest împărat păgân ,,Unsul Meu”: ,,Așa vorbește Domnul către unsul Său, către Cirus, pe care-l ține de mână ca să doboare neamurile înaintea lui și să dezlege brâul împăraților, să-i deschidă porțile, ca să nu se mai închidă” (vers. 1).

Scriptura anunță că regele persan va cuceri popoare cu ajutorul lui Dumnezeu (vers. 2) și că va lua bogățiile acestor popoare. Cirus a fost instrumentul prin care Dumnezeu i-a eliberat pe evrei și a pedepsit marile puteri ale vremii. Profețiile despre regele persan sunt făcute cu aproximativ 200 de ani înainte de nașterea sa.

Cât de mare este Dumnezeu! Slavă Lui! Să ne rugăm Domnului să manifestăm reverența pe care El o merită. Să dezvoltăm teama reverențioasă de Dumnezeu, cinstindu-ne Stăpânul care a creat Universul și l-a făcut pe om.

Wednesday, January 1, 2025 – Isaiah 45:1-25

The section comprising chapters 40-48 represents a message of comfort and encouragement from God to His chosen people. The prophecies in this section, which announce the liberation of the Jews from Babylonian captivity, seem incredible given that the Babylonian Empire was at the height of its glory and appeared invincible.

In chapter 45, God announces that Cyrus, the king of Persia, would defeat the feared Babylonian army. Not only did Cyrus defeat the Babylonians, but he also allowed the Jewish prisoners to return to their land, the Holy Land.

It is astonishing that God refers to this pagan king as “My Anointed”: “This is what the Lord says to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut” (v. 1).

Scripture proclaims that the Persian king would conquer nations with God's help (v. 2) and would seize the wealth of these nations. Cyrus was the instrument through which God liberated the Jews and punished the great powers of the time. The prophecies about the Persian king were made approximately 200 years before his birth.

How great is our God! Glory to Him! Let us pray to the Lord to cultivate the reverence He deserves. May we develop a reverent fear of God, honoring our Master who created the Universe and made humanity.
