Joi, 1 august 2024, Psalm 96:1-13

Acesta este un psalm de laudă, un psalm misionar. Scopul principal al misiunii este prezentarea lui Dumnezeu ca singurul Împărat, adică glorificarea Lui. Psalmul 96 este considerat un imn misionar care Îl preamărește pe Dumnezeu în calitatea Sa de Creator, de Cârmuitor al lumii prezente, dar și de Judecător și Răscumpărător al omenirii.

Psalmistul îi cheamă pe toți oamenii la închinare prin muzică: ,,Cântați”, ,,cântați”, ,,cântați” (vers. 1-2).

Închinarea este o alegere, este o acțiune, este un verb: ,,Dați Domnului, dați Domnului, dați Domnului… daţi Domnului, daţi Domnului slavă şi cinste! Daţi Domnului slava cuvenită Numelui Lui!” (vers. 7-8)

Psalmistul argumentează necesitatea laudei adresate lui Dumnezeu: ,,Căci Domnul este mare şi foarte vrednic de laudă. El este mai de temut decât toţi dumnezeii. Căci toţi dumnezeii popoarelor sunt nişte idoli, dar Domnul a făcut cerurile. Strălucirea şi măreţia sunt înaintea Feţei Lui, slava şi podoaba sunt în Locaşul Lui cel Sfânt.” (vers. 5-6)

Psalmistul generalizează nevoia de închinare, cerând naturii să se închine: ,,Să se bucure cerurile şi să se veselească pământul; să mugească marea cu tot ce cuprinde ea. Să tresalte câmpia cu tot ce e pe ea, toţi copacii pădurii să strige de bucurie!” (vers. 11-12) Cerurile, pământul și marea, câmpia și copacii pădurii!

Să cerem de la Dumnezeu puterea de a ne închina în mod proaspăt, responsabil, spontan, entuziast. În felul acesta închinarea laudei noastre va fi primită de Dumnezeul cel Atotputernic!

Thursday, August 1, 2024 – Psalm 96:1-13

This is a psalm of praise, a missionary psalm. The main purpose of the mission is to present God as the only King, that is, to glorify Him. Psalm 96 is considered a missionary hymn that exalts God as Creator, as the Ruler of the present world, but also as the Judge and Redeemer of humanity.

The psalmist calls all people to worship through music: “Sing,” “sing,” “sing” (v. 1-2).

Worship is a choice, it is an action, it is a verb: “Ascribe to the Lord, ascribe to the Lord, ascribe to the Lord… Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name!” (v. 7-8)

The psalmist argues the necessity of praising God: “For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary.” (v. 4-6)

The psalmist generalizes the need for worship, telling nature to worship: “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy!” (v. 11-12) The heavens, the earth, the sea, the fields, and the trees of the forest!

Let us ask God for the power to worship in a fresh, responsible, spontaneous, enthusiastic way. In this way, our worship will be accepted by the Almighty God!
