Marți, 9 aprilie 2024: Iov 24:1-25 – Iov este îngrijorat de ,,indiferența” lui Dumnezeu

În starea de intensă suferință, Iov ajunge să nu înțeleagă de ce Dumnezeu nu intervine să pedepsească pe cei ce fac răul. Unii păcătuiau pe față, mutând hotarul și furând din pământul vecinului (vers. 2). Ei luau animalele văduvei și orfanului, nedreptățind pe cei lipsiți (vers. 3-4). Alții păcătuiau în ascuns, precum hoții și criminalii care se foloseau de întunericul nopții adânci (vers. 13-17).

Iov ajunge la concluzia că oamenii răi vor fi pedepsiți de Dumnezeu pentru că profită de vulnerabilitatea văduvelor și le nedreptățesc. Dilema lui Iov era de ce, totuși, prosperă oamenii răi, de ce le merge bine celor ce păcătuiesc fără frică de Dumnezeu?

Dacă, asemenea lui Iov, ai experimentat durerea și dezamăgirea provocate de oameni sau situații nedrepte, amintește-ți că Dumnezeu este un Dumnezeu al dreptății – El îndreaptă lucrurile. Biblia ne spune că atunci când Isus, ,,când era batjocorit, nu răspundea cu batjocuri şi, când era chinuit, nu ameninţa, ci Se supunea dreptului Judecător” (1 Petru 2:23).

,,În locul ocării voastre, veţi avea îndoită cinste; în locul ruşinii, se vor veseli de partea lor, căci vor stăpâni îndoit în ţara lor şi vor avea o bucurie veşnică. Căci Eu, Domnul, iubesc dreptatea, urăsc răpirea şi nelegiuirea; le voi da cu credincioşie răsplata lor şi voi încheia cu ei un legământ veşnic” (Isaia 61:8).

Să ne rugăm pentru puterea de a ne încrede în Dumnezeu, Apărătorul nostru!

Tuesday, April 9, 2024: Job 24:1-25 – Job is Concerned About God’s ‘indifference.’

In a state of intense suffering, Job struggles to understand why God does not intervene to punish those who do evil. Some sin openly by moving boundaries and stealing from their neighbors’ land (verse 2). They take the animals of widows and orphans, wronging the needy (verses 3-4). Others sin in secret, like thieves and murderers who use the deep darkness of night (verses 13-17).

Job concludes that evil people will be punished by God because they exploit the vulnerability of widows and wrong them. Job’s dilemma was the question of “why do evil people prosper, why do those who sin fearlessly do well?”

If, like Job, you have experienced the pain and disappointment caused by unjust people or situations, remember that God is a God of justice—He sets things right. The Bible tells us about Jesus that “when they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23).

Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and wrongdoing. In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them” (Isaiah 61:8).

Let us pray for the strength to trust in God, our Defender!
