Duminică, 7 mai 2023, Numeri 8:1-26 – Sfeșnicul și consacrarea leviților

Pe lângă responsabilitatea de a aduce jertfe, preoții se ocupau cu aprinderea celor șapte candele. Fiecare candelă avea șase brațe (Exod. 25:31-40).

Pentru a se califica să participe alături de preoți la lucrarea sfântă, leviții sunt chemați să treacă printr-o ceremonie de curățire. După acest prim pas, leviții urmau să-și taie părul. Apoi, și-au pus mâna peste capetele vițeilor de sacrificat, transferând vinovăția poporului asupra lor.

După toate aceste lucruri, leviții s-au dus la Cort pentru a continua să slujească (v. 20-22). Această nouă lucrare a lor de la Cort putea fi făcută de către leviții cu vârstele cuprinse între 25 și 50 de ani.

Începem rugăciunea de mulțumire din această dimineață exprimându-ne recunoștința față de Dumnezeu care ne cheamă la slujire. Biblia spune: ,,Fiecăruia i se dă arătarea Duhului spre folosul altora” (1 Cor. 12:7). Leviții aveau o perioadă limitată să lucreze: (1) 25-50 de ani pentru leviții care slujeau la Cort (2) și 30-50 de ani pentru leviții care transportau Cortul și accesoriile lui.

Pasajul acesta sugerează temporalitatea; toți suntem trecători și trebuie să ne grăbim să-L slujim pe Dumnezeu. Este necesar să devenim conștienți de fiecare clipă pe care o trăim înaintea Domnului. Să-i cerem înțelepciune, discernământ și puterea de înfrânare.

Sunday, May 7th, 2023: Numbers 8:1-26 – The Lampstand and the Consecration of the Levites

In addition to the responsibility of bringing sacrifices, the priests were responsible for lighting the seven candles. Each candle had six branches (Exodus 25:31-40).

To qualify to participate with the priests in the holy work, the Levites were called to go through a purification ceremony. After this first step, the Levites were to cut their hair. Then, they placed their hands over the heads of the sacrificial calves, transferring the guilt of the people onto them.

After all these things, the Levites went to the Tabernacle to continue to serve (v. 20-22). This new work of theirs at the Tabernacle could be done by Levites between the ages of 25 and 50.

We begin our prayer of thanksgiving this morning by expressing our gratitude to God who calls us to serve. The Bible says, “To each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all” (1 Cor. 12:7). The Levites had limited time to work: (1) 25-50 years for the Levites who served at the Tabernacle, (2) and 30-50 years for the Levites who transported the Tabernacle and its accessories.

This passage alludes to the temporary; we are all passing, and we must hurry to serve God. It is necessary to become aware of every moment we live before the Lord. Let us ask for wisdom, discernment, and the power of self-control.
