Duminică, 3 septembrie 2023, 1 Samuel 7:1-17 – Restaurarea statutului chivotului

După ce chivotul a stat în Chiriat-Iearim timp de 20 de ani, Samuel le-a cerut să renunțe definitiv la idoli și să-și reînnoiască loialitatea față de Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt. Samuel a chemat poporul la Mițpa și acolo a adus o jertfă Domnului (v. 9). Mițpa a găzduit multe evenimente importante în istoria lui Israel. Spre exemplu, Mițpa a ajuns capitala lui Iuda după distrugerea Ierusalimului de către babilonieni (2 Regi 25:23, 25). Când filistenii au aflat de această sărbătoare care întărea unitatea națională a celor 12 seminții au atacat Israelul. Dumnezeu însă a intervenit în mod supranatural și i-a pus pe fugă.

În cinstea lui Dumnezeu și pentru comemorarea acestui mare triumf, Samuel a ridicat un monument din piatră, căruia i-a dat numele de Eben-Ezer, ,,piatra ajutorul lui Dumnezeu”.

Vă chem să ne rugăm mulțumindu-I Domnului că-i pune pe vrăjmașii noștri pe fugă, protejându-ne sufletele și casele. Apoi, să cerem în rugăciune puterea de a fi și de a rămâne credincioși Domnului. Să luptăm pentru prezența Domnului în viețile și în casele noastre, și în Casa Lui. În felul acesta vom aștepta cu speranță revenirea Celui ce stă să revină. A Lui să fie și să rămână slava, astăzi, mâine și în veci!

Sunday, September 3, 2023: 1 Samuel 7:1-17 – Restoration of the Ark’s Status

After the Ark had been in Kiriath-Jearim for 20 years, Samuel asked them to definitively renounce their idols and renew their loyalty to the Most High God. Samuel summoned the people to Mizpah and there he made a sacrifice to the Lord (v. 9). Mizpah hosted many important events in Israel’s history. For instance, Mizpah became the capital of Judah after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians (2 Kings 25:23, 25). When the Philistines learned of this celebration, which strengthened the national unity of the 12 tribes, they attacked Israel. However, God intervened supernaturally and drove them away.

In honor of God and to commemorate this great triumph, Samuel erected a stone monument, which he named Ebenezer, meaning “thus far the Lord has helped us .”

I invite you to pray, thanking the Lord for driving our enemies away, protecting our souls and homes. Then, in prayer, let us ask for the strength to be and remain faithful to the Lord. Let us fight for the presence of the Lord in our lives and homes, and in His House. On this way, we will look forward to the return of He who is about to return. May His glory be and remain, today, tomorrow, and forever!
