1)      Credincioșia lui Dumnezeu față de poporul ales, în ciuda greșelilor lui;

1) Precizia și concretețea lui Dumnezeu cu privire la construcția Cortului – totul trebuia făcut într-un anumit fel;

Wednesday, March 29, 2023: Exodus 35:1-35 – The Sabbath and Preparations for the Building of the Tabernacle

After the renewal of the covenant, the construction of the Tabernacle was essential. The first three verses emphasize the observance of the Sabbath, mentioning the restriction of lighting a fire in the house (v.3). The Sabbath is presented as a sign between God and the Israelites, as the chosen people (Deuteronomy 31:16-17).

Although the construction of the Tabernacle was discussed in chapters 25-31, this chapter returns to emphasize two fundamental truths:

1)    God's faithfulness to the chosen people, despite their mistakes.

2)    Moses' complete obedience to God's instructions.

As a result, in chapters 39 and 40, the phrase “as the Lord had commanded Moses” is repeated 14 times. For most of this chapter, Moses emphasizes the gathering of materials necessary for the construction of the Tabernacle. Everyone was to donate voluntarily: “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded” (v. 10, 29). The people gave so generously that they had to be stopped when the needs were met.

This passage highlights at least two things:

1)    God's precision and specificity regarding the construction of the Tabernacle – everything had to be done in a certain way

2)    Moses' dedication and the generosity of the people. When a work is for God, people will be willing and generous.

Today, we thank God for the opportunity to work together with Him. We also pray to the Lord for open hearts, wisdom, and understanding in the work that the Lord has entrusted to us.
