A șasea profeție a lui Ezechiel împotriva Egiptului a fost rostită cu aproximativ două luni după ce vestea căderii Ierusalimului a ajuns la prizonierii evrei din Babilon (33:21). Ezechiel 32 este un capitol profetic care conține un cântec de jale pentru împăratul Egiptului, al cărui mesaj surprinde judecata lui Dumnezeu asupra acestei națiuni și a altor popoare care s-au ridicat împotriva Lui.

1.     Judecata asupra lui Faraon: Faraonul este comparat cu un pui de leu și cu un crocodil, sugerând prin această figură de stil puterea sa de distrugere (vers. 2).

2.     Intervenția lui Dumnezeu: Dumnezeu hotărăște să-l pedepsească pe regele Egiptului, în ciuda puterii și autorității de care s-a bucurat până atunci (vers. 3-10).

3.     Instrumentul pedepsei divine: „Căci așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Sabia împăratului Babilonului va veni peste tine»” (vers. 11). Nebucadnețar a fost folosit de Dumnezeu pentru pedepsirea multor regi și națiuni.

4.     Căderea Egiptului și impactul asupra națiunilor: Distrugerea Egiptului va îngrozi alte popoare și împărații acestora vor tremura la vestea căderii lui (Ezechiel, vers. 10).

5.     Egiptul coborât în locuința morților: Faraon și poporul său au fost aruncați în groapă, alături de alte popoare care au fost pedepsite de Dumnezeu (vers. 17-32).

Acest capitol ne asigură de faptul că Dumnezeu nu tolerează nedreptatea și mândria, că fiecare națiune și individ trebuie să răspundă înaintea Lui. Egiptul, alături de alte națiuni puternice, au ofensat sfințenia lui Dumnezeu crezând că sunt invincibile, însă Dumnezeu este suveran și domnia Lui stăpânește peste tot pământul. Faraon a fost pedepsit pentru aroganța lui, iar exemplul lui ne motivează să trăim cu umilință și în ascultare de Dumnezeu.

Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – Ezekiel 32:1-32

Ezekiel’s sixth prophecy against Egypt was spoken approximately two months after the news of Jerusalem’s fall reached the Jewish exiles in Babylon (33:21). Ezekiel 32 is a prophetic chapter containing a lament for the king of Egypt, whose message reflects God's judgment on this nation and on other peoples who rose against Him.

1. Judgment on Pharaoh: Pharaoh is compared to a young lion and a crocodile, this imagery suggesting his destructive power (v. 2).
2. God’s Intervention: God decides to punish the king of Egypt, despite the power and authority he had previously enjoyed (vv. 3–10).
3. Instrument of divine punishment: “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘The sword of the king of Babylon will come against you.’” (v. 11). Nebuchadnezzar was used by God to punish many kings and nations.
4. The fall of Egypt and its impact on the nations: Egypt’s destruction would terrify other peoples, and their kings would tremble at the news of its fall (Ezekiel v. 10).
5. Egypt brought down to the realm of the dead: Pharaoh and his people were cast into the pit, alongside other nations that had been punished by God (vv. 17–32).

This chapter assures us that God does not tolerate injustice and pride, and that every nation and individual must give an account before Him. Egypt, along with other powerful nations, offended God’s holiness by believing they were invincible, but God is sovereign and His reign rules over all the earth. Pharaoh was punished for his arrogance, and his example motivates us to live with humility and obedience to God.
