Joi, 15 mai 2025 – Daniel 6:1-28

Mesajul capitolului 6 al cărții lui Daniel descrie o anumită perioadă din timpul domniei lui Darius Medul, după căderea Babilonului în anul 539 î.Hr. Imperiul Persan, sub conducerea lui Cirus cel Mare și, mai apoi, Darius, a reorganizat teritoriile anexate, iar Daniel a fost promovat ca unul dintre cei trei administratori principali (vers. 1-2). Darius a împărțit regatul în 120 de provincii, a numit 120 administratori peste ele și a pus în fruntea lor trei administratori principali. Unul dintre aceștia a fost Daniel, care acumulase sub domnia lui Nebucadnețar, timp de aproximativ 39 de ani, o vastă experiență administrativă (2:48).

Capitolul 6 poate fi împărțit în câteva secțiuni:

1.     Promovarea lui Daniel și invidia tovarășilor de slujbă (vers. 1-5)
„Daniel însă întrecea pe toate aceste căpetenii și pe dregători, pentru că în el era un duh înalt, și împăratul se gândea să-l pună peste toată împărăția.” (vers. 3) Având intenția să-l promoveze pe Daniel la rang înalt, împăratul a stârnit gelozia celorlalți administratori.

2.     Complotul administratorilor împotriva lui Daniel (vers. 6-9)
„Acum, împărate, întărește oprirea și iscălește porunca aceasta, pentru ca să nu se poată schimba după legea mezilor și perșilor, care, odată dată, rămâne neschimbată.” (vers. 8) Dușmanii lui Daniel l-au convins pe rege să emită o lege care a interzis rugăciunea către Dumnezeu.

3.     Loialitatea lui Daniel față de Dumnezeu (vers. 10-13)
„Când a aflat Daniel că s-a iscălit porunca, a intrat în casa lui, unde ferestrele odăii de sus erau deschise înspre Ierusalim, și de trei ori pe zi îngenunchea, se ruga și lăuda pe Dumnezeul lui, cum făcea și mai înainte.” (vers. 10) Credincioșia lui Daniel s-a manifestat prin loialitate, și în ciuda poruncii imperiale a continuat să se roage de trei ori pe zi.

4.     Judecata și pedepsirea lui Daniel (vers. 14-17)
„…împăratul a poruncit să aducă pe Daniel și să-l arunce în groapa cu lei. Împăratul a luat cuvântul și a zis lui Daniel: «Dumnezeul tău, căruia necurmat Îi slujești, să te scape!»” (vers. 18) Sub presiunea grupului de administratori invidioși, regele a fost constrâns să-l arunce pe Daniel în groapa cu lei.

5.     Eliberarea miraculoasă (vers. 18-23)
„Dumnezeul meu a trimis pe îngerul Său și a închis gura leilor, care nu mi-au făcut niciun rău, pentru că am fost găsit nevinovat înaintea Lui. Și nici înaintea ta, împărate, n-am făcut nimic rău!” (vers. 22) Dumnezeu a hotărât să-l scape pe credinciosul Daniel și a făcut o minune pentru el.

6.     Judecata s-a întors împotriva acuzatorilor (vers. 24)
„Împăratul a poruncit să aducă pe oamenii aceia care pârâseră pe Daniel. Și au fost aruncați în groapa cu lei ei, copiii lor și nevestele lor; și până să ajungă în fundul gropii, leii i-au și apucat și le-au fărâmițat oasele.” (vers. 24) Acuzațiile s-au întors împotriva celor ce l-au pârât pe Daniel, iar aceștia au fost pedepsiți.

7.     Mărturia lui Darius despre Dumnezeu (vers. 25-28)
„Poruncesc ca, în toată întinderea împărăției mele, oamenii să se teamă și să se înfricoșeze de Dumnezeul lui Daniel. Căci El este Dumnezeul cel viu și El dăinuiește veșnic; împărăția Lui nu se va nimici niciodată și stăpânirea Lui nu va avea sfârșit.” (vers. 28) Pentru că Daniel a avut curajul să nu-și compromită convingerile, indiferent de consecințe, Dumnezeu a intervenit în mod miraculos și l-a scăpat de la moarte.

Lecția de viață a acestui capitol reafirmă faptul că integritatea, rugăciunea constantă și încrederea în Dumnezeu sunt mai presus de orice lege și putere omenească.

Să ne rugăm pentru credincioșie, loialitate, devotament și încredere în Dumnezeu.

The message of Daniel chapter 6 describes a specific period during the reign of Darius the Mede, after the fall of Babylon in 539 BC. The Persian Empire, under the leadership of Cyrus the Great and later Darius, reorganized the annexed territories, and Daniel was promoted as one of the three chief administrators (verses 1–2). Darius divided the kingdom into 120 provinces, appointed 120 satraps over them, and placed three chief administrators over the satraps. One of them was Daniel, who had accumulated vast administrative experience under Nebuchadnezzar for about 39 years (2:48).

Chapter 6 can be divided into several sections:

1. Daniel’s Promotion and the Jealousy of His Colleagues (verses 1–5)
   “Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” (verse 3)
   Intending to promote Daniel to a high rank, the king stirred up the jealousy of the other administrators.
2. The Administrators’ Conspiracy Against Daniel (verses 6–9)
   “Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” (verse 8)
   Daniel’s enemies persuaded the king to issue a law that prohibited prayer to any god except the king.
3. Daniel’s Loyalty to God (verses 10–13)
   “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.” (verse 10)
   Daniel’s faithfulness was evident through his loyalty—despite the royal decree, he continued praying three times a day.
4. Daniel’s Judgment and Sentence (verses 14–17)
   “…the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, ‘May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!’” (verse 16)
   Under pressure from the jealous administrators, the king was forced to throw Daniel into the lions’ den.
5. Miraculous Deliverance (verses 18–23)
   “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.” (verse 22)
   God chose to save faithful Daniel and performed a miracle for him.
6. Judgment Turns Against the Accusers (verse 24)
   “At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.” (verse 24)
   The accusations turned against those who had accused Daniel, and they were punished.
7. Darius’s Testimony About God (verses 25–28)
   “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.” (verse 26)
   Because Daniel had the courage not to compromise his convictions, regardless of consequences, God miraculously intervened and saved him from death.

The life lesson from this chapter reaffirms that integrity, consistent prayer, and trust in God are above any human law or power.

Let us pray for faithfulness, loyalty, devotion, and trust in God.
