Vineri, 12 mai 2023, Numeri 13:1-33 – Spionarea Țării Promise 

Moise a cerut câte un spion de la fiecare seminție și a trimis 12 bărbați să spioneze Canaanul. Aceștia au petrecut aproximativ 6 săptămâni în Canaan și apoi s-au întors la tabăra de la Cades, aproape de Beer-Șeba. Raportul spionilor a fost în unanimitate foarte pozitiv cu privire la nivelul de trai. Țara era îmbelșugată și foarte bună de locuit. Spionii însă nu au căzut de comun acord cu privire la planul cuceririi țării, explicând faptul că locuitorii sunt uriași și cetățile lor sunt bine întărite. Zece dintre ei au propus să se întoarcă în Egipt pentru că țara era imposibil de cucerit. Ei au explicat că locuitorii din Canaan sunt uriași și nu există nicio șansă să îi poată învinge.

Raportul pe care l-au adus ei pune la încercare încrederea poporului în Dumnezeu și în promisiunile Sale. Ceilalți doi, Iosua și Caleb, i-au asigurat că vor cuceri țara cu ajutorul lui Dumnezeu. Ei au văzut și uriașii și zidurile înalte, însă L-au văzut și pe Dumnezeu.

În această dimineață Îi vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că, oricât de mulți ar fi dușmanii și necazurile, întotdeauna sunt și suficienți prieteni și bucurii. Apoi vom cere de la Dumnezeu să ne dea credință și speranță în cele mai grele împrejurări prin care vom trece. Dumnezeu are toată autoritatea și în cer și pe pământ. Această încredere ne umple sufletul de pace și liniște.

Friday, May 12, 2023: Numbers 13:1-33 – Surveillance in the Promised Land

Moses requested a spy from each tribe and sent 12 men to spy in Canaan. They spent about six weeks in Canaan and then returned to the camp at Kadesh, near Beersheba. The spies unanimously reported positively about the quality of life in the land. The land was plentiful and very good to live in. However, the spies did not agree on the plan for conquering the land, explaining that the inhabitants were giants, and their cities were well fortified. Ten of them proposed to return to Egypt because the land was impossible to conquer. They explained that the inhabitants of Canaan were giants and there was no chance of defeating them.

The report they brought challenged the people's trust in God and His promises. The other two, Joshua and Caleb, assured them that they would conquer the land with God's help. They too saw the giants and high walls, but they also saw God.

This morning we will thank God that no matter how many enemies and troubles we face, there are always enough friends and joys. Then we will ask God to give us faith and hope in the most difficult circumstances we may encounter. God has all authority both in heaven and on earth. This trust fills our souls with peace and quiet.
