Luni, 12 februarie 2024, Rut 2:1-23 – Rut și Boaz

Boaz este un agricultor bogat, un om puternic și de valoare, un bărbat cu o foarte bună reputație și rudă cu Elimelec, fostul soț al Naomei (v. 3). În Israel, în timpul secerișului, marginile câmpului trebuiau lăsate săracului, străinului și văduvei, care ar fi venit să secere (Levitic 23:22; Deuteronom 24:19). Rut era străină, săracă și văduvă, având în felul acesta un triplu motiv să beneficieze de această lege socială.

După ce am remarcat devotamentul lui Rut față de Naomi, vom admira acum supunerea față de soacra ei. Ea face tot ce-i recomandă Naomi, care, la rândul ei, are în vedere restaurarea vieții ei.

Boaz a remarcat-o pe tânăra care aduna spice de pe ogorul lui și a întrebat pe supraveghetor despre ea. Acesta i-a explicat că este o moabită, nora văduvă a Naomei. El a lăudat-o pentru hărnicia ei și pentru faptul că se îngrijește de Naomi. Boaz a încurajat-o să strângă spice în urma secerătorilor și i-a oferit hrană și apă alături de lucrătorii lui.

În semn de respect, fiind surprinsă de generozitatea lui Boaz, Rut s-a aruncat cu fața la pământ, un gest obișnuit în Orientul Apropiat antic. Întorcându-se acasă, Rut i-a povestit lui Naomi despre generozitatea lui Boaz. Bătrâna soacră a învățat-o pe Rut ce trebuie să facă și cum să se poarte.

Lecția de viață în acest pasaj este că Dumnezeu poartă întotdeauna de grijă. Indiferent de situația în care te afli, Dumnezeu are o soluție. Ca și în acest pasaj, de obicei, Dumnezeu folosește oameni și împrejurări.

Este timpul să ne rugăm și vom cere Domnului puterea de a ne încrede în El, lăsându-ne influențați de Dumnezeu prin ascultare, nu de împrejurări prin frică.

Monday, February 12, 2024: Ruth 2:1-23 – Ruth and Boaz

Boaz was a wealthy farmer, a man of strength and value, a man with a very good reputation and a relative of Elimelech, Naomi's late husband (v. 3). In Israel, during the harvest, the edges of the field were to be left for the poor, the foreigner, and the widow, who would come to glean (Leviticus 23:22; Deuteronomy 24:19). Ruth was a foreigner, poor, and a widow, thereby having a triple reason to benefit from this social law.

After noting Ruth's devotion to Naomi, we now admire her obedience to her mother-in-law. She does everything Naomi recommends, who, in turn, has in mind the restoration of her life.

Boaz noticed the young woman gathering grain in his field and asked the overseer about her. He explained that she was a Moabite, the widowed daughter-in-law of Naomi. He praised her for her diligence and for taking care of Naomi. Boaz encouraged her to glean behind the harvesters and offered her food and water alongside his workers.

In a gesture of respect, surprised by Boaz's generosity, Ruth fell face down to the ground, a common gesture in the ancient Near East. Returning home, Ruth told Naomi about Boaz's generosity. The elderly mother-in-law instructed Ruth on what to do and how to behave.

The life lesson in this passage is that God always takes care. No matter the situation, God has a solution. As in this passage, God usually uses people and circumstances.

It is time to pray, and we will ask the Lord for the strength to trust in Him, allowing ourselves to be influenced by God through obedience, not by circumstances through fear.
