Joi, 11 aprilie 2024, Iov 26:1-14 – Al treilea răspuns al lui Iov

Dacă răspunsul lui Iov din capitolul 25 a fost cel mai scurt, răspunsul său din capitolele 26-31 a fost cel mai lung.

Iov a vorbit despre măreția lui Dumnezeu, explicând că este suveran peste locuința morților (5-6), peste spațiul ceresc și peste pământ (vers. 7), peste nori (vers. 8-9), peste lumină și întuneric (vers. 10), peste lucrurile de pe pământ (vers. 11-12) și peste cer (vers. 12).

Iov îl mustră pe Bildad pentru atitudinea lui de superioritate și îl ironizează, spunându-i că potopul lui de sfaturi nu l-a ajutat cu nimic. El și ceilalți doi tovarăși ai lui erau ,,doctori de nimic” (13:4) și ,,mângâietori supărăcioși” (16:2).

Iov a dorit să-i demonstreze lui Bildad și prietenilor lui că știe mai multe lucruri despre Dumnezeu decât știu ei. Ei l-au tratat ca pe un om ,,al slăbiciunii… fără putere” (18:7) și ,,fără pricepere” (18:2).

Cei trei prieteni au eșuat rușinos în intenția de a-l mângâia pe Iov. De fapt, ei i-au produs foarte multă amărăciune.

În rugăciunea din această dimineață, să cerem lui Dumnezeu înțelepciunea de a mângâia oamenii aflați în suferință. Să legăm rănile, să repetăm promisiunile Domnului și să aducem ,,leac alinător” (Geneza 43:11). Să ne ferim să-i judecăm, încercând să identificăm motivul suferinței lor. Judecata este întotdeauna a lui Dumnezeu – El cunoaște toate detaliile.

If Job's response in chapter 25 was the shortest, his response in chapters 26-31 was the longest.

Job spoke about the majesty of God, explaining that He is sovereign over the realm of the dead (verses 5-6), over the celestial space and the earth (verse 7), over the clouds (verses 8-9), over light and darkness (verse 10), over the things of the earth (verses 11-12), and over the sky (verse 12).

Job reprimanded Bildad for his attitude of superiority and mocked him, saying that his flood of advice was of no help at all. He and his other two companions were “worthless physicians” (13:4) and “miserable comforters” (16:2).

Job wanted to show Bildad and his friends that he knew more about God than they did. They treated him as a man “of weakness… without strength” (18:7) and “without understanding” (18:2).

The three friends miserably failed in their intention to comfort Job. In fact, they caused him a great deal of bitterness.

In this morning's prayer, let us ask God for the wisdom to comfort those in suffering. Let us heal wounds, repeat the Lord's promises, and bring “soothing balm” (Genesis 43:11). Let us refrain from judging, trying to identify the reason for their suffering. Judgment is always God’s – He knows all the details.
